Job summary

McLeod Health is seeking a Medical Surgical Technician for the Nephrology unit on a full-time night shift. The role emphasizes direct patient care, safety, and collaborative tasks with the interdisciplinary team.

Required is a CNA background or at least one year of clinical experience; a HS diploma or equivalent is preferred. This position operates within a comprehensive health system serving SC communities.

Qualifications

• Completion of CNA training preferred or 1+ year clinical experience.
• Nursing assistant certification is acceptable if available.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and maintains hygiene/cleanliness of patients and environment.
• Understands and ensures safe storage of medications, including large volume IVs, saline, and packaged kits.
• Conducts hourly rounds following Service Excellence Standards.
• Promotes comfort and safety for patients and visitors.
• Performs hydration and nutrition interventions (feeding, fluids, snacks).
• Collects and records patient data and communicates it to the care team.
• Engages in continuing professional growth through goals and evidence-based tasks.
• Uses health and safety practices to protect patients and staff.
• Performs general transportation and courier duties as directed.

Requirements

Completion of a nursing assistant training course preferred (CNA Cert.) or one (1) plus years of experience in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and maintains the hygiene/cleanliness of the patients, the patient's environment, Understands and recognizes appropriate storage and safety of medications (such as large volume IV's, alcohol, saline, medications in prepackaged kits).
• Using Service Excellence Standards conducts Hourly Rounds.
• Promotes and fosters an environment of comfort and safety for patients and visitors.
• Performs or assists with performing nutritional/ hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, H20 or snacks).
• Collects and records patient related data through the performance of direct care tasks, identifies and communicates appropriate patient data to members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in Evidence Based tasks.
• Utilizes appropriate health and safety to protect both the patient and staff.
• Performs general transportation and courier duties as directed.

Qualifications
