Job summary

University Health in the United States is seeking a Surgical Technician to support operating room teams, maintain sterile technique and assist with invasive procedures for patients from infancy to geriatrics.

Under RN supervision, you will prepare rooms and equipment, anticipate surgeon needs, and collaborate with anesthesia providers, nurses, and others to ensure safe, efficient care and throughput, with opportunities to advance via the Clinical Ladder.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program and certification as a Surgical Technologist; OR
  • Employed as a Surgical Technologist for at least one year in a healthcare facility before Sept 1, 2009; OR
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technology training program through the US Armed Forces or the US Public Health Service.
  • Must successfully complete the Surgical Technician Clinical Ladder for advancement opportunities.

  • Reviews surgeon preference cards and verifies required instrumentation and specialty equipment.

Position Summary / Responsibilities

The Surgical Technician performs a variety of duties within the Operating Room to support the surgical team and ensure safe, efficient care for patients ranging from infancy through geriatrics. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, this position utilizes advanced knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, surgical instrumentation, and operating room technology to facilitate invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

  • Surgical Tech First Assistant
    • (CSA, CFSA, or SA-C is Required)
    • $30.50 - $47.00

Promotion opportunities are based on demonstrated clinical competency, experience, required certifications, performance, and successful completion of Clinical Ladder requirements.

Education / Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program and certification as a Surgical Technologist; OR
  • Employed as a Surgical Technologist for at least one (1) year in a healthcare facility before September 1, 2009; OR
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technology training program through the United States Armed Forces or the United States Public Health Service.
