Job summary

Concentra, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our patient care team in Sherman, TX. The role involves performing routine medical procedures under clinician supervision, handling registrations, and supporting in referral management to ensure a seamless patient experience.

You will prepare patients, take vital signs, assist clinicians, perform screenings, and manage front/back office tasks while maintaining HIPAA compliance and high standards of care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, OR military medical specialist experience
• Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience
• Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Prepare patients for physical examinations and vital signs
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose)
• Assist providers during examination and treatment
• Triage emergent patients as needed
• Prepare and assist with procedure setup and injury care
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints
• Dispense medications and DME per clinician orders
• Maintain supplies and stock exam rooms
• Operate and calibrate medical devices and document accordingly
• Notify supervisor if equipment or supplies are needed
• Assist with patient flow and communicate wait times
• Handle front/back office clerical tasks and proper record keeping
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and safety rules
• Attend staff meetings and maintain facility appearance
• Complete monthly clinical competency trainings
