About the Position:

Serves as a Medical Supply Technician for the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) in a Military Treatment Facility within the Defense Health Agency (DHA). Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, inspection, sterilization, issue and storage of all medical and dental instrumentation and equipment; tracking instrument and equipment usage; and facilitating rental (loaner, consignment) equipment acquisition

Specialized Experience

One year of specialized experience which includes accounting for and processing surgical instruments; inspecting required instruments for cleanliness, sings of damage, deterioration, imperfection, rust, pitting, and cracks and monitors and tracks surgical instruments using automated instrument tracking log/system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education

A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of post-secondary level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as sterile processing, supply chain management, surgery, or logistics.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed post-secondary level semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
