Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Illinois is seeking a Supply Technician (Medical) to support the Medical Supply Distribution in the Logistics Service.

You will stock, issue, and track sterile and non-sterile medical supplies across wards, clinics, operating rooms, and storage areas. Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, rotating stock, using barcoding and the GIP system, and coordinating with clinical staff to meet daily needs.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-4; inventory and stock replenishment.
• 4 years above high school education can substitute for experience.
• Combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains stock at primary and secondary locations for clinical and administrative services.
• Pulls stock from main inventory for delivery and replenishment.
• Interacts with clinical and administrative customers to meet issues and needs.
• Monitors expiration dates and rotates stock.
• Performs daily inventory using barcoding equipment.
• Distributes items using computerized inventory systems like GIP.
• Fills requests based on daily schedules or emergent needs.
• Cleans shelves and assists in wall-to-wall inventories.
• Supports other sections as needed.
