Good Shepherd Health Care in Hermiston, Oregon is hiring a Credentialing Specialist to support Medical Staff Services. You will process initial and re-credentialing applications, maintain provider files, and track expirable licenses and credentials, ensuring timely updates and compliance.

You will coordinate orientations, prepare materials for credentialing committees, and enter data into credentialing software while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications

Overview

Wage compensation - Min: $ 25.83 Max: $39.77

Provides administrative and operational support to the Medical Staff Services Department with a primary focus on credentialing and re-credentialing activities. This role is responsible for processing applications, maintaining provider files, and supporting onboarding and compliance tracking. This role is responsible for the day-to-day execution of credentialing and administrative processes under the direction of the Medical Staff Services Manager.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
  • Process initial credentialing and re-credentialing applications for medical staff and allied health professionals.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and organized provider credentialing files.
  • Track and monitor expirable (licenses, certifications, insurance, etc.) and follow up with providers for timely updates.
  • Communicate with providers to obtain required documentation and ensure applications are complete and submitted within established timelines.
  • Distribute and track privileging applications; review supporting documentation, including case logs, to confirm completeness and alignment with established privilege criteria, and elevate any discrepancies as appropriate; ensure receipt of all required documentation, including proof of professional liability insurance
  • Coordinate orientation logistics.
  • Lead provider and medical student orientation.
  • Prepare credentialing and committee meeting materials and files.
  • Assist with processing hospital and affiliation agreements.
  • Enter and maintain data in credentialing software and internal tracking systems.
  • Perform general administrative support tasks for Medical Staff Services.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all provider and organizational information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Staff Services Manager.
Qualifications:

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or equivalent.

Licenses/ certifications/ registrations

Required: None.
Preferred: Certification through NAMSS (e.g., CPCS, CPMSM) or willingness to obtain. Notary Public is a plus.

Experience

Required:

  • 3–5 years of experience in a healthcare administrative environment
  • Experience working with physicians or healthcare providers
  • Experience with databases and standard office software

Preferred:

  • Previous credentialing or medical staff services experience
  • Familiarity with DNV and/or CMS requirements

Tactile perception is also important for assessing physical characteristics such as temperature, size, shape, or texture during patient care. Motor coordination is required for reaching, grasping, handling, and performing fine motor tasks necessary for the use of medical equipment and procedures. The position also involves occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when assisting patients or accessing equipment. Walking and standing are typically continuous throughout the shift. The role requires the ability to lift to 50 pounds independently and involves frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients weighing up to 25 pounds. There may also be occasional lifting or transferring of individuals weighing over 100 pounds, with the expectation that appropriate lifting techniques, mechanical aids, or team assistance will be used to ensure safety. May to sit for long periods of time.

Working Conditions:

This position is performed primarily in an indoor healthcare environment, such as a hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility. While the work setting is protected from outdoor weather conditions, it may be subject to variable indoor temperatures.

The health care environment can be fast-paced and unpredictable, requiring the ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances, including high-pressure or emergency situations. The work setting also involves multiple simultaneous demands and varying levels of noise due to medical equipment, staff activity, and patient needs.
