Job Overview: Medical Scribe

A Medical Scribe is responsible for relieving a physician of their clerical duties, thereby allowing a physician to focus their attention on providing the best care to the patient. They are responsible for locating and obtaining a patient's medical history, documenting dictated notes during a patient visit on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), facilitating diagnostic test, all while providing unparalleled customer service to our patients.

Essential Functions – Medical Scribe

• Being able to manage multiple patients per hour.
• Ability to maintain quick pace in fast paced medical office facility for duration of scheduled shift.
• Providing compassionate care to our patients.
• Assisting the physician with basic patient care and clerical duties (includes: locate and obtaining patient's medical history, documenting notes during a patient visit on the EMR system, and facilitating diagnostic test).
• Communicating with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance.
• Helping maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment.
• Assist with training and acclimation of new hire scribes.
• Other related duties as assigned by office managers.

• A High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Chinese required.
• Computer and typing skills are required - minimum of 45 wpm.

Job Overview: Medical Assistant

Medical Assistants are an integral part of delivering kind and compassionate care and optimizing patient experience. They direct patient flow in and out of exam rooms and provide support to providers by assisting in medical procedures and examinations.

Essential Functions – Medical Assistant

• Work alongside providers in the exam room to provide care.
• Measure and record vital signs, height, and weight for patients.
• Obtain chief complaint and gather medical history information from patient prior to being seen by provider.
• Perform basic clinical duties and procedures, including, but not limited to, blood draws, vital signs, preparing vaccines, recording EKGs, glucose monitoring, collecting urine samples, influenza testing, pregnancy tests, vision/hearing tests, etc.
• Prepare exam room for patient visit ensuring that medical supplies are well stocked.
• Clean and sterilize instruments.
• Perform duties to help improve quality measures which may include identifying care gaps, calling patients for follow up, documentation, etc.
• Help maintain clinic compliance & protocols, such as freezer setting, biohazards, sharps, cleaning, infection protocols, etc.
• Other related duties as assigned by office manager.

Qualifications – Medical Assistant

• Bilingual in English and Chinese required.
• Phlebotomist certification preferred.
• High level of professionalism and strong sense of responsibility.
• Good communication skills: kind, compassionate, patient interaction with patients and team.
• Multitasking ability.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Prior experience working in medical/clinical setting preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems a plus.
