Job summary

ScribeAmerica in New Jersey is hiring medical scribes to work alongside doctors, documenting patient visits and recording medical history, exams, and treatments.

No experience required; paid training through Scribe University, hands-on clinical instruction, and opportunities for full- or part-time roles.

You’ll use EHR systems, help keep records secure under HIPAA, and support the clinic to run smoothly while gaining real-world medical exposure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 18+ years old and legally allowed to work in the U.S.
• Typing speed of 40+ WPM.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Flexible schedule availability.
• Ability to stand, sit, and use a computer for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Work with doctors during patient visits to document information.
• Record patient history, exams, and treatments.
• Use electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Review and track lab and test results.
• Follow HIPAA and security rules to protect records.
• Keep patient charts up to date and accurate.
• Send and organize documents for doctor review.
• Support the healthcare team with lab tracking and follow-ups.
• Help keep the clinic running smoothly.

Where You’ll Work

• Outpatient (Doctor’s Office): Typically weekday hours (around 8-5, Monday-Friday), with some offices offering evening or weekend shifts. Ideal if you prefer a consistent routine.
• Emergency Department: Open 24/7 - there's always something happening! Great for those who need flexibility or are balancing school and other commitments.

Schedule Options

We offer both part-time (2-3 shifts per week) and full-time (3-4 shifts per week) positions. Shifts are usually 8 hours but can vary depending on site needs.

Compensation Range

Our compensation for this position is $15.92, depending on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 18 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Proof of vaccinations (may be required)
• Typing speed of 40+ WPM
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Strong listening and communication skills
• Flexible schedule availability
• Ability to stand, sit, and use a computer for several hours a day
• Access to a laptop (you'll be provided one after training but need your own for training)
