Job summary

LEO Pharma is seeking a field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Dermatology, covering Great Lakes (Detroit, Cleveland). You will engage healthcare decision-makers, share evidence-based data, and strengthen scientific collaborations across Medical Affairs and R&D.

You will travel ~70% of the time, build KOL networks, support advisory boards, and develop territory plans while ensuring compliant scientific exchange. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP); other degree considered with strong relevant clinical experience
• Prior experience in Field Medical, Medical Affairs, or Clinical R&D
• Strong knowledge of Dermatology or Immunology and clinical research; clinical practice experience preferred
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately ~70% of the time, and must reside within 45 minutes of a major U.S. airport
• Understanding of the current pharmaceutical environment and applicable laws and regulations
• Ability to develop and execute a territory clinical plan, with strong ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build productive professional relationships
• Strong presentation skills and adaptable to evolving conditions
• Broad Medical Affairs perspective to support strategy and opportunities

Responsibilities

• Serve as a field-based scientific and clinical resource for Medical Affairs
• Plan, engage, and build relationships with KOLs and investigators to support scientific exchange
• Develop understanding of territory healthcare systems and patient care pathways
• Provide educational and technical information including responding to inquiries
• Ensure compliant education on disease states and emerging data
• Provide medical support at advisory boards and document insights
• Facilitate communication between investigators and internal stakeholders
• Attend national/local medical congresses to gather insights and maintain competitive intelligence
• Deliver cross-functional training on scientific topics
• Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in dermatology/immunology
• Assist in developing scientific materials to support exchange
• Collaborate with Medical Affairs to provide cross-organizational support
• Work with cross-functional field-based and Commercial teams to address customer needs

Role Description

Your Role:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a medical and scientific expert in Dermatology, engaging in high‑quality scientific exchange with healthcare decision‑makers to share evidence‑based data, advance the scientific platform, and collect insights in alignment with LEO’s strategic goals and objectives. The MSL is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, institutions, and other stakeholders within the scientific community by providing appropriate, high‑level scientific support across research initiatives, publications, education, consulting engagements, and other Medical Affairs and R&D activities.

This is a field-based role, covering Great Lakes (Detroit, Cleveland)

Your Responsibilities:

• Serve as a field‑based scientific and clinical resource, functioning as a customer‑facing extension of LEO Pharma North America Medical Affairs.
• Plan, engage, and build strong working relationships with academic and community‑based KOLs and investigators to support scientific exchange and scientific objectives.
• Develop a solid understanding of territory‑specific healthcare systems, clinical practices, patient care pathways, disease management, treatment protocols, and research interests.
• Provide educational and technical information, including responding to unsolicited medical and drug information inquiries.
• Ensure stakeholders receive accurate and compliant education on disease states, emerging scientific data, population health trends, and patient care challenges.
• Provide medical support at advisory boards and document field‑generated scientific insights, sharing them with the appropriate internal teams.
• Support unsolicited research requests, facilitate communication between investigators and internal stakeholders, and identify potential investigators for LEO‑sponsored research.
• Attend relevant national and local medical congresses to gather insights, strengthen relationships, and maintain competitive intelligence.
• Deliver cross‑functional training on scientific and medical topics as requested, including speaker bureau or sales training support.
• Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in the therapeutic area.
• Assist in identifying and developing scientific materials needed to support effective scientific exchange.
• Collaborate with Medical Affairs colleagues to provide scientific support and communicate scientific insights across the organization.
• Work closely and compliantly with cross‑functional field‑based and Commercial personnel to understand evolving customer needs and provide appropriate scientific support.

Your Qualifications:

• Prior experience in Field Medical, Medical Affairs, or Clinical R&D.
• Strong knowledge of Dermatology or Immunology and clinical research, clinical practice experience preferred.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this position is $185,000 - $215,000 per year.
