Job summary

Syneos Health in Birmingham, AL seeks a Medical Science Liaison to advance scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals in GI/Liver areas. The role is field-based, requires travel up to 60%, and focuses on translating data into real-world clinical impact.

You will build scientific relationships, plan medical strategy, and support internal and external scientific exchange while staying current with literature and standards of care.

Qualifications

• MD/PhD or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years of MSL experience or 5+ years clinical/related experience in GI/Liver.

Responsibilities

• Engage in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals to translate insights into clinical impact.
• Establish and maintain scientific relationships with KOLs while understanding clinical practice related to GI/Liver.
• Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers.
• Communicate clinical data to HCPs/KOLs through presentations and educational programs.
• Provide support for unsolicited medical questions and scientific exchange matters.
• Identify and document field-generated insights to drive Medical Affairs strategies.
• Collaborate with Medical and Commercial colleagues to share insights.
• Respond to unsolicited inquiries integrating real-world evidence into practice.

Responsibilities

The Medical Science Liaison is a field-based, scientific, and clinical expert who strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of the program. Key aspects of this role will include engaging in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals that translate into meaningful insights while serving as a therapeutic expert.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Establish, cultivate, and maintain scientific relationships with KOL\'s while developing a strong understanding of clinical practice as it relates to areas of interest to advance scientific and medical knowledge.
• Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for appropriate assigned customer.
• Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
• Serve as the primary resource to provide support for addressing unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchange matters.
• Identify, gather, and document field-generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies and procedures.
• Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange.
• Collaborate with field-based Medical colleagues, appropriate Commercial colleagues, and the broader organization to provide scientific expertise and share Medical insights in support of internal and external activities.
• Leverage knowledge of standards of care and company/investigator-sponsored clinical trials and competitor landscape to facilitate external/internal research communication.
• Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of Health Care Providers (HCPs)/investigators/health care systems/academic medical centers and treatment team members integrating scientific data including real-world evidence into real-life practice to meet customer needs.

Requirements

Along with your ability to remain at the forefront of your field, you must possess:

• MD, PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, or equivalent degree preferred.
• 2+ years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison or 5+ years of clinical or related practical experiences in GI/Liver required.
• Strong scientific & clinical acumen.
• Ability to quickly understand & translate complex scientific data & realize the potential impact of that data on clinical practice & potential research needs.
• Ability to travel up to 60%, overnights and weekends may be required, and possess a valid driver\'s license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified.
