Abington Memorial Hospital is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to prepare, scan, and index clinical documents for the electronic health record. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate patient identifiers and proper documentation alignment within the EHR (Epic and OnBase), with timely processing to support patient care.
The role involves handling paper records, verifying details, and performing quality analysis to maintain record integrity across hospital, ED, and outpatient settings.
The Medical Record Clerk is responsible for prepping, scanning and indexing clinical paper documentation (medical records) for Jefferson Abington Hospital. This includes but is not limited to records for hospital, ED and outpatient procedures. The Medical Record Clerk performs quality review of the documentation ensuring that clear patient identifiers, service dates, authentication and other regulatory requirements are included on each document in accordance with The Joint Commission, State and Federal Laws and other regulatory entities. This resource is responsible for assigning documentation to the correct patient, encounter and document type in the EHR. Provides timely, accurate and accessible electronic patient health information. Works with the Manager of HIM Document Management to ensure all clinical documentation is accessible within the EHR within 24 hours of creation or defined time frame.
Ability to work with computerized systems. Good communication skills needed. Must be able to push a WOW (workstation on wheels) stand and walk for long periods of time.
Education: High School Diploma/GED required AND Experience: Prior experience in Health Information Management is preferred as well as experience in scanning and indexing.
