Phoenix Cyberknife & Arizona Radiation Therapy Specialist is seeking a Medical Physicist to join a growing radiation oncology group. The physicist will support 4 clinics with a range of equipment and contribute to quality control, planning reviews, safety, and tech implementation.

Ideal candidates hold ABR certification/eligibility, a Master’s (or PhD) in Medical Physics, and 3+ years of clinical experience, with familiarity across Varian and Accuray systems.

Qualifications

• Board certification or eligibility by ABR is required.
• Master's Degree or PhD in Medical Physics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in radiation oncology physics.
• Familiarity with Varian and Accuray products desirable.
• Experience in adaptive planning and theranostics beneficial.
• Proficient in radiation physics, dosimetry, and equipment operation.
• Stereotactic and HDR planning experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control tests per AAPM standards and site protocol.
• Review treatment plans and perform weekly chart reviews.
• Participate in radiation safety measures and compliance.
• Assist in implementing new technology and equipment.
• Collaborate with staff across clinics for safe patient care.

Job description

Phoenix Cyberknife & Arizona Radiation Therapy Specialist is seeking a Medical Physicist

We are looking for an experienced clinical medical physicist to join our growing radiation oncology group. The physicist will join a team of 4 other physicists and 4-5 dosimetrists to cover 4 clinics spread throughout the Phoenix metro area. Current clinical equipment includes, two Varian TrueBeam linacs, two Varian Gamma Med plus iX HDR afterloaders, one Accuray Cyberknife VSI machine, one Accuray HAD Tomotherapy unit, and VisonRT. We will be opening a new center at the end of this year with a Varian Ethos with adaptive planning, a Bravos HDR unit, in house PET/CT, and a theranostics program. Treatment planning is done with Varian Eclipse and Accuray Precision. All sites use full scale, cloud-based, ARIA for our record and verify system.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in the clinic, as well as oversee the scientific and technical aspects of all procedures. The candidate will be required to collaborate and communicate with other staff members when necessary. The responsibilities of the candidate include quality control tests based upon AAPM and industry standards, treatment planning review, weekly chart review, participation in radiation safety measures, and assistance in implementation of new technology and/or equipment.

Requirements

• Board Certification or Board eligibility by the American Board of Radiology, or equivalent, is required.
• Master's Degree, or PhD, in Medical Physics or related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the field of radiation oncology physics is preferred.
• Familiarity with Varian and Accuray products is desirable.
• Experience in adaptive planning and theranostics is beneficial
• Proficient in radiation physics, dosimetry, and the operation of various types of equipment used in a radiation oncology clinic.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve for general clinical issues that arise and any discrepancies that are found.
• Stereotactic and HDR planning experience is a plus.
