Job summary

Covelo Direct invites a board-certified/eligible Medical Oncologist to join our Northern California outpatient team. This is a predominantly outpatient role in a lakeside community, with regional oncology network support and opportunities to lead service delivery, coordinate referrals, and participate in care planning.

The position offers flexible site coverage, minimal inpatient duties, and eventual chemotherapy expansion.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with Board Certification/Eligibility in Oncology.
• Valid California medical license or ability to obtain one.
• Prior solo practice, rural medicine, or leadership experience preferred.
• Confident, self-starter with interest in building or leading services.
• Comfortable practicing independently while collaborating across sites.

Location: Northern California with coordination support from Santa Rosa, CA

Compensation: competitive hourly compensation

Employment Type: Full-time, Monday-Thursday onsite schedule 9-hour clinic days, Friday remote admin time (~4 hours)

Position Overview:

We’re excited to share an opportunity for a board-certified/eligible Medical Oncologist to join a growing, collaborative, and patient-centered oncology team in Northern California. This is a predominantly outpatient-focused position in a beautiful lakeside community, with support from an established regional oncology network. You’ll play a key role in providing direct patient care, coordinating specialty referrals, participating in care planning, and shaping oncology service delivery in a community setting.

Position Highlights:

• Outpatient general oncology (no infusion, chemotherapy, or biologics onsite initially)
• Chemotherapy services planned to launch in the near future
• Access to infusion/chemo services in the affiliated Santa Rosa clinic
• Flexible Nurse Practitioners to support the unit
• Patient panel: 1,500-2,000 with varied acuity
• Embedded within a broader oncology service line in collaboration with regional specialists
• Strong infrastructure for administrative and virtual support
• Minimal inpatient responsibilities, if any
• After-hours call handled by family medicine colleagues
• Close coordination and virtual consult support from regional oncology colleagues
• Must be comfortable working independently in a solo-provider outpatient setting
• Travel, lodging and malpractice provided (as locums)
