Job summary

IDEXX in Manhattan, NY is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician Processor to perform diagnostic laboratory testing that supports veterinarians and pet care. You will work with automated analyzers, microscopes, and other lab tools to process samples daily, set up tests, read results, and release findings per SOPs.

This full-time role involves a fast-paced, collaborative lab environment with day-one benefits, physical lab work, and opportunities for growth within a leading veterinary diagnostics

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; science-related degree is preferred.
  • Experience in processing in a lab and cross-training in other areas is beneficial.
  • Experience with high-volume, fast-paced laboratory environments.
  • Knowledge of clinical pathology testing (Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis).
  • Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests with lab equipment.

As a Medical Laboratory Technician Processor at IDEXX, you perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. In This Role
  • You will be processing samples that come into our lab-strong organizational skillset and previous laboratory processing skills are preferred
  • You will use automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
  • You will perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
  • You will set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

What You Need To Succeed
  • You possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
  • You have previous laboratory experience where you were trained in processing and cross-trained in other areas of the lab
  • You have processed samples in a high volume, fast-paced laboratory
  • You have knowledge of clinical pathology testing in Hematology, Chemistry and Urinalysis
  • Ideally, you will have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
  • You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues

  • You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility
  • Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab – standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

  • Hourly rates targeting: $25 / hr (this will be based on skillset)

Schedule:
  • The schedule for this position is: Monday - Friday with Rotating Weekends (Rotating weekend shifts will be every 3rd -you will be off 2 days during the week if you are working a rotation weekend)
  • The hours for this position are: 10am-6:30pm
  • The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
  • Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
