Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) invites applications for a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician to join MUSC Health’s clinical laboratory team. The position supports high-quality diagnostic testing in a fast-paced hospital environment, with opportunities to contribute to patient care and laboratory operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or equivalent experience, MT (ASCP) (or ASCP), and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field OR an equivalent combination totaling at least 2 years of laboratory experience.
• MT (ASCP) or equivalent required; MLT (ASCP) must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory testing on blood and body fluid specimens.
• Ensure accurate results by strictly following quality control protocols.
• Conduct instrument function checks and preventative maintenance per department standards.
• Maintain required records and statistical data in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assist in training new employees and students on laboratory procedures.
• Collect chain-of-custody urine drug screens as required.
• Work with minimal supervision while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
