Job summary

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, in Saint Louis, MO, is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) II to join its laboratory team as a Generalist. Night shift is required (1830-0700) with three 12-hour shifts per week and weekend/holiday rotation.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and MLT certification (ASCP/AMT or equivalent) preferred or required, with strong generalist skills and a commitment to quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform testing across multiple laboratory disciplines in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the LIMS, meeting turnaround times.
• Documents patient test management problems and initiates corrective action.
• Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots instrumentation as needed.
• Operates instrumentation to deliver precise, timely laboratory results and conducts specimen collection/processing/testing.
• Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and equipment usage.

Role Purpose

The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) II (REG) performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice

Responsibilities

• Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.

• Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.

• Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department.

• Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.

• Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
