Job summary

Memorial Hospital of Carbondale seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a 13-week traveler assignment on days. Must be strong in Epic and serve as a lab generalist with phlebotomy included.

Bachelor's or Associate degree required; CLS or MT (ASCP) or equivalent; New MT Graduate must pass certification within 6 months of start date. Analyzers preferred: Abbott Alinity, ACL TOP 350, GeneXpert, Beckman Coulter, Torch, Clinitek.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or Associate degree for grandfathered personnel).
• CLS or MT (ASCP) or equivalent.
• New MT Graduate must pass certification within 6 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophies.
• Collects, processes and receives specimens (including blood, urine, fecal, body fluid) to be analyzed in all departments of the clinical laboratory (listed above). Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens of analysis of all age ranges.
• Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of personnel, equipment, cost and establishment of reference intervals; writes and revises technical procedures.
• Performs complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles.
• Analyzes quality control data, makes judgments concerning results and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
• Answers inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results.
• Reviews all instrument indicators and temperature monitors for laboratory departments
• Responsible for maintaining self-competency in laboratory skills.

No weekend requirements.
Possible call if needed and they are willing.
