Job summary
Essentia Health, St. Marys Medical Center in Duluth, MN, seeks an Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist to join its General Lab team.
The position involves performing a broad range of tests, phlebotomy, QA/QC, and instrument troubleshooting to support patient care. Candidates for MLT must have an ASCP or equivalent certification within one year from hire; MLS candidates require MLS certification within one year.
Qualifications
- MLT: Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician ASCP or equivalent within 1 year from hire.
- MLS: Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist ASCP within 1 year from hire.
- MLT/MLS candidates must meet CLIA guidelines or possess equivalent qualification.
Responsibilities
- MLT: Perform and report tests of all CLIA levels on patients of all ages; assist with QA/QC, instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting, specimen processing, phlebotomy, and customer service.
- MLS: Perform and report tests of all CLIA levels; interpret results, correlate with disease states, participate in QA/QC, maintenance, troubleshooting, and may perform phlebotomy and research.
