Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in our clinical laboratory services team by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient diagnostic testing. You will leverage your technical expertise to analyze patient specimens, calibrate sophisticated laboratory equipment, and maintain strict adherence to regulatory guidelines. By providing reliable, timely data, you will directly support our medical staff in delivering high-quality patient care and diagnosis.

Every day you will perform essential laboratory test procedures, manage quality control records, and troubleshoot automated instrumentation to maintain operational excellence. Your routine will involve clinical correlation of results, prompt notification of critical values to caregivers, and the diligent management of laboratory inventory to keep operations running smoothly. You will also participate in ongoing professional development, training, and documentation validation to ensure our facility remains at the forefront of modern laboratory technology.

To be successful in this role, you will possess an associate of science degree in a biological or chemical science or have completed an official military medical laboratory program. You should be detail-oriented, capable of managing complex workloads, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment that requires medium physical demand.   • Aligning with local and state requirements performs lab test procedures on patient specimens adhering to the Section’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
  • Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of appropriate caregivers of critical values, and completion of testing within established turn-around-time limits.
  • Ensures that major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting procedures; including contacting instrument vendor for assistance or repair.
  • Performs required calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests are being performed within established parameters.
  • Performs proficiency testing as assigned and review results with laboratory clinical leaders.
  • Assists in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for the validation of new procedures and equipment to provide the physician with the most current laboratory technology.
Job Requirements

Required: Associates Of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA or High School GED in General Studies and completed an official military medical laboratory course and held the military enlisted occupational speciality of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician) or High School Graduate and completed an official military medical laboratory course and held the military enlisted occupational speciality of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician).

Preferred: Medical Laboratory Technician AMT (MLT-AMT) or Medical Laboratory Technician ASCP (MLT) or Medical Lab Tech AAB (MLTECH).
