Job summary

Exceptional Community Hospitals is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a variety of diagnostic tests and deliver accurate results for the medical staff. The role supports patient care in a hospital setting with emphasis on safety and quality control.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in appropriate sciences, an active MLT/MLS license, and preferred ASCP certification. Expect 12-hour shifts with weekend coverage in a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate sciences required.
  • Must have a current MLT/MLS license.
  • ASCP certification preferred.
  • Experience with moderate complexity lab in healthcare setting.
  • Ability to present information to patients/families/team.
  • Ability to perform med math calculations and height/weight calculations.
  • Basic computer skills and charting system knowledge.
  • Ability to perform multiple QC and testing based on order and lab capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a variety of diagnostic testing for patients.
  • Assist in improving overall patient status.
  • Provide accurate laboratory results for medical staff.
  • Promote safety and quality care for all patients.
  • Demonstrate competency as reflected on the lab tech checklist.
  • Perform diagnostic tests per lab policies and procedures.
  • Conduct QC, maintenance, and proficiency testing on equipment and kits.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of equipment, specimens, and results.
  • Adhere to all facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, quality lab environment and professional appearance.

Flexible shifts: Monday 6a-6p Tuesday 10a-10p Thursday 6p-6a

Key Qualifications:

What You’ll Do:
  • Providea variety of diagnostic testingof patients
  • Assist in improving the overall status of patients.
  • Provideaccurate laboratoryresults for the medical staff.
  • Promote safety, quality care for all patients.
  • Demonstrate proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the lab tech competency checklist.
  • Performdiagnostic testsin accordance with the lab policies and procedures.
  • Perform quality control, maintenance, and proficiency testing on all laboratory equipment and test kits in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Perform a variety of lab tests based on laboratory scope of service.
  • Document and maintainaccurate recordson all laboratory equipment and patient specimens and results.
  • Adheres toall policies and proceduresset forth by the facility and imposed by all regulatory organizations.
  • Maintain a quality, clean work environment in the lab setting.
  • Ensure your personal appearance is pristine while wearing company ID while onsite.
  • Responsible for complying with all compliance standards including annualMedTrainercompetencies, and annual skill fair competencies.
  • Remain flexible in staffing patterns and staffing resolutions when conflict arises.
  • Participates in the team environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility when changes in assignments are necessary to promote safe patient care.
  • Compliance with all attendance standards.
  • Promotequality lab reportingin accordance with state, federal, CLIA, and COLA regulations.
  • Remainscompliant withHIPAA, OSHA, and EMTALAregulations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations and facility policies and procedures pertaining to safety, emergency preparedness,infection control, OSHA, fire safety and hazardous materials.
Schedule:
  • 12-hour shifts, weekend availability, including holidays.
