Job summary

AZ General Hospital Mesa is seeking a Medical Lab Technologist to perform waived and moderate clinical laboratory procedures, using instrumentation and information systems to support disease diagnosis and treatment. You will ensure test quality and timely reporting under leadership direction.

You will apply knowledge across microbiology, hematology, chemistry, and related disciplines, maintain and calibrate equipment, and participate in proficiency testing and documentation to provide physicians

Qualifications

• AS in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• Military medical laboratory course completing the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician).
• High School GED/General Studies completed with military lab course and Medical Laboratory Specialist qualification.
• High School Graduate General Studies with military lab course and Medical Laboratory Specialist qualification.

Responsibilities

• Aligning with local and state requirements, perform lab test procedures on patient specimens per SOPs.
• Provide patient care through clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of caregivers of critical values.
• Maintain major automated equipment through calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Perform calibration and quality control procedures with proper record-keeping.
• Participate in proficiency testing and review results with laboratory leaders.
• Assist in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for new procedures and equipment.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Lab Technologist, you will perform vital clinical laboratory procedures to detect, identify, measure, and report data crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment.

Every day, you will expertly conduct waived and moderate procedures using technical skills, instrumentation, and information systems, providing essential clinical laboratory support while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all tests under leadership direction.

To be successful in this role, you will possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory principles across various disciplines (microbiology, hematology, chemistry, etc.), understand sample processing and result interpretation, prioritize chemical and biological safety, and be adept at operating and maintaining lab equipment.

• Aligning with local and state requirements performs lab test procedures on patient specimens adhering to the Section’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate, timely reporting.

• Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of appropriate caregivers of critical values, and completion of testing within established turn-around-time limits

• Ensures that major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting procedures; including contacting instrument vendor for assistance or repair

• Performs required calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests are being performed within established parameters

• Performs proficiency testing as assigned and review results with laboratory clinical leaders

• Assists in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for the validation of new procedures and equipment to provide the physician with the most current laboratory technology

Job Requirements

Required

• Associates Of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA., or

• High School GED General Studies completed an official military medical laboratory course and held the military enlisted occupational speciality of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician), or

• High School Graduate General Studies completed an official military medical laboratory course and held the military enlisted occupational speciality of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician),

Preferred

• Medical Laboratory Technician AMT, or

• Medical Laboratory Technician ASCP, or

• Medical Lab Tech AAB,
