Job summary

Memorial Hospital - Hixson is seeking a Medical Lab Technologist for the night shift (7:00pm-7:00am) to perform vital clinical laboratory procedures essential for disease diagnosis and treatment.

You will work with waived and moderate procedures, leveraging instrumentation, information systems, and laboratory knowledge across microbiology, hematology, chemistry, and more to ensure accurate test results and timely reporting under leadership direction.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in biology or chemistry as defined by CLIA is required or equivalent.
• Military medical laboratory training with listed enlisted specialty is accepted on hire.
• Medical Laboratory Technician certifications AMT/ASCP/AAB accepted on hire.
• TN credential for Medical Laboratory Technician required on hire (TN).

Responsibilities

• Align lab test procedures with local and state SOPs for patient specimens and timely reporting.
• Provide patient care through clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of critical values to caregivers.
• Ensure major automated equipment is operational via maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting; contact vendor for repairs as needed.
• Perform calibration and quality control procedures and maintain records to ensure tests run within parameters.
• Participate in proficiency testing and review results with laboratory leaders.
• Assist in evaluating and documenting new procedures and equipment validations to provide current lab technology to physicians.

Education

Associates Of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.

7:00pm-7:00am

As our Medical Lab Technologist, you will perform vital clinical laboratory procedures to detect, identify, measure, and report data crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment.

Every day, you will expertly conduct waived and moderate procedures using technical skills, instrumentation, and information systems, providing essential clinical laboratory support while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all tests under leadership direction.

To be successful in this role, you will possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory principles across various disciplines (microbiology, hematology, chemistry, etc.), understand sample processing and result interpretation, prioritize chemical and biological safety, and be adept at operating and maintaining lab equipment.

• Aligning with local and state requirements performs lab test procedures on patient specimens adhering to the Section's Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
• Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of appropriate caregivers of critical values, and completion of testing within established turn-around-time limits
• Ensures that major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting procedures; including contacting of instrument vendor for assistance or repair
• Performs required calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests are being performed within established parameters
• Performs proficiency testing as assigned and review results with laboratory clinical leaders
• Assists in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for the validation of new procedures and equipment to provide the physician with the most current laboratory technology
