Job summary

Spectrum Healthcare Resources, Inc. is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician for the evening shift at the Fairfax Health Center in Fairfax, Virginia. The role supports patients including active military, veterans and dependents in an outpatient setting.

The position offers evening shifts Monday-Thursday 12:00pm-8:00PM with Fridays off and Saturday rotation; 2 pm shift availability per month is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• NAACLS/ABHES accredited MLT program graduate.
• ASCP/NCA/AMT certification or state licensure as MLT.
• Two years related experience preferred.
• BLS certification current.
• US citizenship required.
• REAL ID required to access base.
• Clear communication in English; reading, writing, speaking.

Responsibilities

• Screens patient information and collects specimens for testing.
• Performs testing in Microbiology, Chemistry, Serology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunohematology; includes receipt, preparation, analysis, reporting.
• Checks patient identification.
• Orders and accessions tests into the Composite Health Care System.
• Instructs patients on specimen collection techniques and provides collection equipment.
• All other duties assigned.

Job Description

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking to hire a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician for the evening shift at the Fairfax Health Center in Fairfax, Virginia.

This is your chance to make a difference in the lives of patients who are active military, veterans and their dependents.

Shift

This position will be for the evening shift from Monday - Thursday from 12:00pm to 8:00PM- Fridays Off. Saturday 7am-2pm rotation.

PRN requirement - (must be available to work a minimum of 2 pm shifts per month)

Job Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Graduation from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or state licensure as a medical laboratory technician. **
• Two years related experience preferred.
• Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
• Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must have a REAL ID to get on base

Job Duties
