Job summary

Atrium Health Stanly Lab is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in Albemarle, NC. You will perform routine laboratory analyses, maintain quality standards, and support patient care through timely reporting.

First shift hours are 6am-6pm and third shift 6pm-6am, with various shifts available. Must have an associate degree or CLIA-defined equivalent; MLT registry eligibility or ASCP/AMT certification within one year is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education as defined by CLIA.
• MLT registry eligibility or ASCP/AMT equivalent required within one year of hire.
• MLT (ASCP/AMT) certification through military programs acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures with QA guidelines; documents corrective action for non-conformities.
• Prepares reagents, maintains materials, and manages inventory to reduce waste/expense.
• Uses clinical judgment to prioritize testing; troubleshoots with specialists to resolve issues.
• Participates in accreditation-related procedure/document revisions; adheres to CAP, TJC, OSHA.
• Maintains clear shift-to-shift communications with leadership about issues affecting patient care or operations.
• Participates in staff meetings, task forces, or projects to plan and implement changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$24.10 - $36.15

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adherence to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event.
• Prepares reagents, maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense.
• Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities while identifying, problem solving and offering solutions to test systems through the appropriate department channels, i.e. contacts hotline to troubleshoot with a specialist when necessary to resolve the issue or set‑up service when appropriate.
• Assists with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to all regulatory requirements for various authorities, including but not limited to CAP, TJC, OSHA.
• Maintains clear, real time communications shift‑to‑shift and with leadership regarding issues, concerns and problems which may affect patient care or the operation of the department.
• Participates in planning and implementing change through participation in staff meetings, task forces or projects.
• Willingly performs all other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

Works in a fast-paced clinical environment. Works in an area which contains bio hazardous (infectious) materials along with chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards. Duties may involve standing, walking, stretching, stooping, bending and lifting light (20 pound) to moderately heavy (50 pound) loads.

Education, Experience And Certifications

Must have an associate degree or equivalent education and training as defined by CLIA.MLT registry eligible or equivalent required. MLT (ASCP/AMT) or equivalent required within one year of hire.MLT (ASCP/AMT) certification through the U.S military medical laboratory training programs by an accredited institution is acceptable.
