Responsibilities
- Perform and report various analyses from multiple specimen sources.
- Provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction.
- Maintain an expected level of productivity and manage multiple work processes efficiently.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Handle specimens properly, confirm identification and suitability, and use appropriate accessioning procedures.
- Recognize discrepancies on patient orders, resolve and report problems and solutions as appropriate.
- Perform and record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
- Replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols.
- Follow established reporting procedures, both computerized, verbal, and manual.
- Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new employees.
- Participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Successfully complete initial and subsequent competency exams.
- Work is performed in a clinical environment and complies with all organization policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university.
- Completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program ORmajor in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science and ASCP categorical certification ORat least two years' experience equivalent to a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory.
- Minimum of 1 year laboratory experience (preferred).
- Certification(s) and license(s) relevant to laboratory work (e.g., ASCP certifications, military clinical laboratory qualifications).
