Job summary

Northfield Hospital & Clinics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician to collect, process, and perform clinical testing across neonates to geriatrics. You will ensure quality assurance and report results under the direction of Laboratory Services.

The role requires accredited MLT/MLS/MT/CLS education, ASCP certification or eligibility, and a commitment to safety practices and ongoing certification. Competitive shifts and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Associate’s Degree program in MLT or an accredited Bachelor’s Degree program in MLS/MT/CLS.
• ASCP certification or eligible to obtain certification within 6 months of start date.
• Must enroll in NH+C RQI program for BLS certification and maintain current by completing quarterly assignments.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently in a healthcare setting.
• Must complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens and evaluates acceptability of samples for laboratory testing.
• Accessions and processes specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.
• Performs waived, routine and high complexity laboratory tests within all areas of the laboratory.
• Reports patient test results according to established laboratory policies.
• Performs quality control testing and instrument checks.
• Performs staff competency evaluations.
• Performs instrument preventative maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Performs clerical functions in each laboratory area.
• Practices Universal Body Substance Precautions.
