Job summary

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at CHEManager International is responsible for sample processing, test performance, and reporting results used in diagnosis and treatment. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a medical technologist program or equivalent.
• Relevant science coursework with clinical lab internship to support MLS certification.
• Experience in clinical laboratory settings and regulatory standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process samples and perform tests for diagnostic use.
• Report results accurately for diagnosis and treatment decisions.
• Rotate across units (Blood Bank, Reference, Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology) and shifts as required.
• Collaborate with team and maintain quality and safety standards.

Job description

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is responsible for sample processing, test performance and for the reporting of test results for the use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. This position may involve rotating in multiple units and shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations. Units in the department include: Blood Bank, Reference, Hematology, Chemistry, and Microbiology. The MLS works successfully both independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Education

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Medical Technologist program
• Appropriate natural or physical science degree or sufficient coursework with an internship or training in a clinical laboratory setting which will support MLS certification requirements.

Minimum Work Experience

• Clinical Laboratory experience.
• Experience with quality improvement, quality control, equipment maintenance and laboratory safety desired.
• Experience in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, microbiology and/or phlebotomy are desirable.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• An MLS (MT) registration or certification preferred, will consider a candidate that is ASCP-BOC or AAB registry eligible*
• Technical certification by an appropriate laboratory agency within one year of hire.

Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

• Acquiring or having mastered established generalist competencies in up to two laboratory units.
• Complies with regulatory requirements, OSHA/VOSHA Standard Precautions; practices personal and hospital safety and complies with confidentiality policy.
• Ability to communicate patient information to physicians, office staff, and hospital employees and acts as clinical laboratory information resource to all customer groups.
• Ability to accurately transcribe and verbalize patient data.

Pay Range: $32.15 - $46.84
