Job summary

Geisinger Medical Laboratories is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform and report analyses from various specimen sources, maintain and troubleshoot instruments, and ensure quality control. You may assist in training new staff and participate in ongoing education.

The position requires a B.S. in a relevant field with ASCP/NAACLS accreditation or equivalent experience, and carries an evening shift with possible 12-hour shifts at GSACH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree and successful completion of ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program or
• Bachelor of Science degree with a biology/chemistry/physical/clinical lab major and ASCP categoric certification or
• Bachelor of Science degree with a biology/chemistry/physical/clinical lab major and at least two years' experience as an MLT in a clinical laboratory

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports analyses from multiple specimen sources.
• Performs and records instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
• Assists in training and orientation of new employees; participates in continuing education.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree with ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program OR major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science with ASCP categoric certification OR major with 2+ years in MLT in a clinical lab

Bachelor of Science degree with major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification

Bachelor of Science degree with major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience as MLT in a clinical lab

Performs and records instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control. Navigates and accesses multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality. Assists in the training and orientation of new employees. Participates in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Additional competencies and skills outlined in any department-specific orientation will be considered essential to the performance of the job related to that position.

Medical Laboratory Scientist:

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of anASCP/NAACLS-accreditedMedical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program OR;
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification OR;
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory

• Evening: 3pm-1130pm with possibility of 12 hour shifts
• No Travel
• 3rd shift Weekends, holidays
