Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health Waxahachie is seeking a Med Lab Scientist 2 for the Evening shift (4 days x 10 hours) in the Lab Hematology - Blood Bank. You will perform and monitor a full range of tests and ensure quality control with minimal supervision.

Preferred: ASCP or equivalent certification with at least 3 years of Generalist experience, plus extensive hematology and blood bank expertise. Will train others and support instrument maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must hold ASCP or equivalent certification with at least 3 years of Generalist experience.
• Extensive QC, hematology and blood bank experience required.
• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of work experience above minimum qualification.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full range of laboratory tests in hematology and blood bank.
• Adheres to quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Accurately reports test results.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and communicates with lab personnel and external customers.

Job Summary

The Med Lab Scientist 2 performs and monitors a full range of lab tests and research. Assumes responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and equipment maintenance with minimal supervision.

• Performs laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and all pertinent regulatory requirements.
• Follows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Accurately reports test results.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
• Demonstrates and educates laboratory methods and technical skills to others.
