Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for Hackensack, NJ, a hospital-based role at HUMC, with an every other weekend night shift from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM. The position involves handling specimens, testing, and reporting results while maintaining compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.

The candidate should have a BS in Medical Technology or equivalent, ASCP certification or eligibility, and 1 year of clinical experience in high complexity testing.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred.
• BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology or an Associates degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• ASCP certified or eligibility required.
• 1 year clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Pay range:

$27.95 - $46.12 / hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.
