Job summary

Quest Diagnostics seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for the Wood Dale, IL night shift (Wed–Sat, 11:00 PM–9:30 AM). Operate instrumentation, analyze specimens, and report results in a compliant laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.
• Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology may be acceptable.
• Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493 may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records showing proficiency testing samples are tested like patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Follow established policies when test systems are outside acceptable performance.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting and notify senior staff.

Medical Laboratory Scientist I – Wood Dale, IL, Wednesday to Saturday, 11:00 PM to 9:30 AM

Pay range

$26.48 - $43.70 / hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

Education

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493

Work Experience

1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.

MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Lab Scientist, Med Tech, Medical Technologist, CLS, Clinical Lab Scientist
