Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing in a varied shifts environment in Vermillion, SD. You will collect specimens, perform clinical testing, and ensure safety and quality in accordance with SOPs.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in laboratory or biological sciences and MLS/MT certification or registry eligibility. ND licensure may be required in North Dakota, and BLS could be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
• National certification for MLS (ASCP) or registry eligible.
• Certification as Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
• Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
• If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
• Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to state requirements for license/certifications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Collect laboratory specimens, as needed.
• Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
• Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem-solving.
• Demonstrate personal commitment to the principles, values, and ethics of the organization to promote a positive work environment.
• Seek personal learning opportunities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences

MLS certification (ASCP) or registry eligible

Medical Technologist (MT) certification

Registry eligible — Board of Registry exam within 12 months
