Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join night shift operations. You will perform and report analyses from multiple specimen sources, ensure quality control, and maintain instrument performance in a busy clinical laboratory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program OR;
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification OR;
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory

• Confirms identification and specimen suitability.
• Uses appropriate accessioning procedures and documents results.
• Recognizes discrepancies on patient orders and resolves issues.
• Performs instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
• Replenishes reagents and supplies per established protocols.
• Follows reporting procedures across computerized and manual systems.
• Navigates multiple computer applications essential to job performance.
• Assists in training and orientation of new employees.
• Participates in educational activities to maintain current knowledge.
• Completes competency exams as required.
