Baptist Health Clinical Lab in Lexington, KY is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a full-time, first-shift role. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified individuals.

The MLS will maintain technical competency, work with LIS downtime procedures, evaluate procedures, identify issues, and communicate specimen requirements to ensure accurate results. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree with certification eligibility in clinical laboratory science within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or related field.
• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science within one year of hire.
• Certification must be achieved within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain technical competency related to job functions.
• Understand LIS functions and perform downtime procedures.
• Evaluate procedures and select appropriate investigative techniques.
• Identify and resolve problems that may adversely affect test results; notify appropriate personnel.
• Determine acceptability of specimens by visual inspection and by recognizing abnormal results.
• Communicate specimen requirements to appropriate personnel and ensure proper specimen acceptance.
• Assess job functions and take appropriate action when problems are detected.
• Handle troubleshooting professionally and communicate delays to coworkers and customers.
