JOB SUMMARY
Location: HTPN Downtown Dallas TX
Department: Lab Chemistry
Shift: Evening Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 11:30pm
Preferred Experience: ASCP MLS Generalist or equivalent. Must have at least 3 years of experience with a strong chemistry background.
The Med Lab Scientist 2 performs and monitors a full range of laboratory testing and research. Assumes responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and equipment maintenance with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Performs laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Follows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
- Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Accurately reports test results.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
- Maintains effective communication and relationships with laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
- Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
- Demonstrates and educates others on laboratory methods and technical skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

- EXPERIENCE: Less than 1 year of experience.
- CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Must hold at least one of the following certifications:
- ASCP-BloodBanking Technologist (ASCP-BB)
- ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C)
- ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG)
- ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT)
- ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H)
- ASCP-International Hematology Tech (ASCP-IH)
- ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M)
- Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB)
- ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB)
- ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC)
- ASCP-Hematology Specialist (ASCP-SH)
- ASCP-Microbiology Specialist (ASCP-SM)
- Other certifications include: Cert Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS-ABHI), Cert Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT-ABHI), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), HEW, Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), etc.
