We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist who holds a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related sciences, with at least 1 year of relevant experience and certification eligibility

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related sciences is required.
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
• Certification or eligibility for ASCP AMT NCA ACHI or equivalent; must be obtained within 12 months.
• Knowledge of complex laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Familiarity with specialized testing equipment and routine maintenance.
• Ability to maintain quality control records and use computers to enter and retrieve results.
• Ability to work independently with interruptions and concurrent tasks.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests on patient specimens for diagnosis, treatment, or prevention.
• Maintain performance records and ensure results meet quality standards.
• Instruct staff and students on procedures and techniques.
• Participate in research and development activities when appropriate.
• Serve as a resource for staff inside and outside the department.

The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

Performs laboratory tests on patient specimens and provides information for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of diseases. Maintains records of performance and utilizes independent judgment to generate acceptable test results within quality control standards. May participate in research and development activities. May act as a key resource person for staff inside and outside of the department. Instructs students, laboratory and non-laboratory staff on laboratory procedures and techniques. Performs all tasks according to standard operating procedures. May work on the development and modification of procedures and assumes additional responsibilities as outlined by management or the laboratory director.

• Requires Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences.
• Requires one (1) year of relevant experience.
• Requires certification or eligibility for board certification by ASCP AMT NCA ACHI or equivalent certification.
• Certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment. Failure to achieve would result in downgrade to
• Technician-Medical Laboratory position until certification is achieved or loss of employment, dependent on business need.
• Requires knowledge of various complex and lengthy laboratory techniques and procedures.
