Job summary

Zangmeister Cancer Center in Columbus, OH is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support specimen collection, testing and QC in a busy clinical lab. Perform manual and automated routine blood tests. Prepare specimens for microscope examination. Operate laboratory equipment including centrifuges, hematology analyzers, and point of care analyzers.# **Key Performance Areas****KPA 1 – Specimen collection and testing*** Collect and analyze body fluids such as urine and blood.* Perform proper quality control procedures before proceeding with patient testing.* Perform routine clinical laboratory tests.* Perform technical laboratory procedures with accuracy and precision, meeting the standard of all accreditation/regulatory agencies.* Ensure adherence to correct testing policies, procedures, and quality assurance.**KPA 2 – Equipment maintenance** **and supplies*** Set up, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure efficient performance* Maintain cleanliness of the laboratory.* Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies. Place order with purchasing as needed**KPA 3 – Compliance*** Comply with established safety guidelines.* Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patient’s rights, safety, billing, and collections.* Adhere to all Company and departmental policies and procedures, including Disaster Recovery Plan and IT policies and procedures.* Complete all duties required to keep laboratory in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
