Job summary

Oviedo Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Medical Technologist to provide expert laboratory testing and support patient care. Join a dedicated team that values accuracy, timeliness, and collaboration across shifts.

In this role you will perform tests, maintain records, cover the department in supervisor absence, and uphold quality control. Florida licensure or ability to obtain, along with relevant degree, are required.

Qualifications

• 2-year/associate degree required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of Med Tech experience preferred.
• Florida Technologist License required or ability to obtain during interview.
• Generalist license areas: Blood Bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing per instructions.
• Assume responsibility of the department in the absence of the supervisor.
• Complete records and documentation for patient results.
• Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets.
• Demonstrate good judgment in correlation and interpretation of patient results.
• Review pending logs and resolve outstanding workload.
• Perform quality control and handle all problem/critical specimens.

What you will do in this role:

• Performaccurateandtimelylaboratory testing by analyzingproficiencytesting samples according to instructions and complete within the allowabletime frame
• Assume responsibility of the department asappropriate inthe absence of the supervisor
• Complete all required records/documentationpertaining topatient results
• Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets
• Demonstrate the ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results. (Including performing delta checks, etc.)
• Review pending logs (OSR) and result logs; resolve any outstanding workload or communicate to staff relief
• Perform quality control procedures per protocol and handle all problem and/or critical laboratory specimens/test results

What Qualifications you will need:

• A 2 Year/Associate Degreeisrequired
• A 4 Year/Bachelors Degree in Medical Technologyis preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist preferred
• A State of Florida Technologist License isrequiredOR the ability to obtain a license during the interview process
• Technologist License in one or more clinical specialty areas: (Generalist highlypreferred)-Blood BankBank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology
