Job description

Medical Lab Technician / Medical Office Manager

CHC Addiction Services is a non-profit social service agency in the Akron area, dedicated to treating, inspiring, supporting, and empowering individuals and families impacted by addiction. Established in 1974, CHC has been a vital part of Ohio’s efforts to address substance use disorders.

We are seeking a full-time Medical Office Manager to assist our medical patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing support services to patients, customers, visitors, and staff, with duties such as:

  • Supervising and supporting staff
  • Providing backup coverage to staff and lab personnel as needed
  • Answering phones, relaying messages, and assisting callers
  • Meeting, greeting, and announcing patients and visitors
  • Entering patient and customer data into the computer system
  • Meeting regularly with staff and administration
  • Reviewing, recommending, and approving staff training
  • Verifying staff certifications and licenses for services performed
  • Overseeing daily operations, fostering a positive work environment, analyzing needs, and developing goals
  • Interviewing applicants
  • Completing administrative duties such as staff evaluations
  • Ensuring staff attend required trainings, including CPR and First Aid
  • Managing supplies for drug and alcohol testing

Minimum Requirements: Medical Technologist certification or degree from a 4-year Ohio-certified program, Ohio Medical License, or equivalent. At least two years of lab training or experience, and two years of supervisory experience in non-waived testing. Knowledge of infection surveillance, epidemiology, sanitation, and disinfecting practices. Familiarity with adult education principles and patient care practices.
