Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking Medical Technologists and Medical Lab Technologists to perform routine and special clinical laboratory tests, interpret results, and maintain equipment. Licensure as CLS (MT) or MLT is required by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

The role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and the ability to work in a fast-paced lab environment while supporting colleagues and patients across BRG campuses.

Qualifications

• Current CLS (MT) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
• MLT license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners is accepted/required.
• Self-motivated with a desire to learn.
• Excel in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to apply practices, procedures, and techniques to resolve defined work-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special clinical laboratory tests on patient specimens.
• Correlates and interprets data based on techniques, principles, and instruments.
• Investigates problems and performs corrective and preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Prepares reagents and instructs students and new employees.
• Performs data entry and interpretation of test results.

Performs routine and special clinical laboratory tests on patient specimens, correlates and interprets data based on knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments. Investigates problems, performs corrective and preventative maintenance of equipment, prepares reagents, instructs students and new employees, and performs data entry and interpretation of test results.

• Performs various laboratory diagnostic tests on patient specimens.
• Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the operation and principles of departmental instrumentation.
• Accurately interprets and reports laboratory test results.
• Communicates effectively with physicians, nursing staff, co-workers and other organizational staff.
• Observes and follows established departmental environment of care and safety protocols and practices.
• Attends departmental, organizational and continuing education meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
