Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, performs laboratory testing in various sections of the laboratory, conducts control testing, and initiates troubleshooting steps for problem areas. The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job, and should not be regarded as a detailed description of all work requirements inherent in the position.
Education: A.S. degree in MLT / B.S. degree in Medical Technology, or in chemical, physical, or biological sciences, with clinical training in an ASCP-approved school.
License/Registration or certification: Registered by ASCP preferred.
Additional skills/abilities: Competency in components of laboratory technology as appropriate. Verbal communication skills for interacting with patients and clients. Numerical ability to perform calculations using formulas. Visual acuity in the color spectrum for performing specific lab tests.
