Responsibilities
Analysis of various body fluids relating to the fields of microbiology, chemistry, serology, toxicology, urinalysis, coagulation, blood gases, special chemistry, and therapeutic drug monitoring to aid in the diagnosis of certain disease states.
Microscopic analysis of human cells relating to the fields of hematology and clinical microscopy to aid in the diagnosis of certain disease states.
Analysis of human blood relating to the field of immunohematology to provide adequate blood supply to the community and to aid in the diagnosis of certain disease states.
Analysis of human sites of infection to identify pathogenic organisms relating to the fields of microbiology, mycology, mycobacteriology, virology, and parasitology to aid in the diagnosis of infectious disease states.
Performance of Quality Control, maintenance, and trouble shooting of all analyzers and testing methodologies to insure quality of laboratory results.
Computer entry – Accessioning of patients in the LIS Laboratory Information System and Resulting and Verifying said results in the LIS.
Communicates proper knowledge of test results to physicians, nurses, and clients (i.e. Critical values).
Perform phlebotomies on patients to obtain proper samples for analysis.
Answer incoming calls from clients, physicians, and nursing staff.
Prioritize STAT, scheduled and outpatient orders.
Display courteous, professional manner towards patients, co-workers, nursing and medical staff.
Assist physician offices with all laboratory needs.
Maintain a clean working area.
Maintain patient/employee confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Complete assigned duties efficiently and in a timely manner.
Performs duties necessary to ensure quality in the department.
Seek guidance and direction when necessary.
Demonstrate the value of team concept on a consistent basis.
Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
All other duties as assigned.
Status: Full-Time - Saturday 6:00 am to 10:00 pm; Sunday 7:00 am to 11:00 pm; PRN – varies.
