Job summary

Chippenham Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to support our clinical laboratory operations in Richmond. The role requires following lab policies and procedures, maintaining competency, and participating in ongoing education.

You will assist with specimen handling, quality control, and instrument maintenance to ensure patient safety and accurate results. Preferred candidates hold an Associate Degree in Medical Technology and have registry within 18 months, with ASCP or AMT accepted.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Medical Technology or related science.
  • ASCP or AMT certification accepted; registry within 18 months of hire.
  • Experience as Medical Laboratory Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Know, understand, and implement general lab policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment with little supervision; may lead tech-in-charge duties when needed.
  • Maintain annual competency in designated lab sections; perform proficiency testing.
  • Participate in mandatory annual training and quality control activities.
  • Assist in specimen receiving, supplies management, and routine duties in the department.
  • Troubleshoot instruments, document corrective actions, and investigate specimen issues.
