Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and report complex laboratory testing in alignment with approved policies. You will verify data, manage quality control, and document procedures while communicating critical results to caregivers and maintaining strict policy compliance.

The role requires graduation from an approved MLT program with ASCP/AMT eligibility or certification within 6 months, and no prior experience is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved school of medical laboratory technician.
• ASCP or AMT certification or equivalent as a Medical Laboratory Technician, or eligible/qualify for certification.
• Certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Performs moderately and highly complex laboratory testing in area(s) within the clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Performs and reports routine laboratory testing following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within established timeframes.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs and reports routine laboratory testing following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within established timeframes.

• Performs, evaluates, and documents all quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Demonstrates computer system proficiency including ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.
• Ensures proper utilization and preparation of reagents and supplies.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
• Regularly reports all unusual findings to the immediate supervisor.
• Regularly reports work activities and pending work to the oncoming technologist.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

• Assumes one or more of the following responsibilities under the supervision of the Medical Technologist or Team Leader: supply/reagent ordering or preparation, primary operator of minor instrumentation, projects, or teaching/training.
• Performs specimen collection procedures, specimen receiving and processing as required.
• Answers the telephone and greets guests to the department.
• Maintains current job knowledge in order to effectively instruct students or other personnel.
• Responsible for an active role in the laboratory quality improvement program including performance and evaluation of key quality indicators.
• Follows the established policies and procedures to meet regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
• Practices infection control and safety practices and keeps a clean and organized work area.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient records, hospital and departmental matters at all times.
• Perform other duties as directed under supervision of Medical Technologist or Team Leader.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate from an approved school of medical laboratory technician. or
• Associate degree in related field.

Licensure/Certification

• Requires ASCP or AMT certification or equivalent as a Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited program or qualifies for certification. Certification required within 6 months of hire.
