Job summary

Freeman Health System in Springdale, AR is seeking a Microbiologist for full-time, 40 hours per week. You will perform routine and specialty lab tests on blood and body fluids, ensure accuracy with a strict quality control program, and conduct instrument checks and maintenance to support patient care.

Requirements include an associate degree in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, or completion of a military medical laboratory program.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology; or completion of military medical laboratory procedures course (50+ weeks).
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood and body fluids under supervision.
• Ensures accurate results via strict quality control program.
• Performs instrument function checks and maintenance per procedures.
• Maintains records and statistics per regulations.
• Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures.
• Collects urine drug screen samples as required.
• Assists in other laboratory areas to support patient care.

What You’ll Do

• Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under supervision by the section chief technologist.
• Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program.
• Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures.
• Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements.
• Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures.
• Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required.
• Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.

Requirements

Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution; or have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician); and high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Requirements

• 1 year of acute care experience MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT) or equivalent certification
