Job summary

USPI South Texas Specialty Hospital is seeking a motivated Medical Lab Technician to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. The role supports outpatient surgical procedures and requires compliance with CLIA, TJC, and CAP standards, along with accurate result reporting and QC activities.

Responsibilities include analyzing test results, performing instrument maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and recommending equipment improvements.

Qualifications

• Two- or four-year laboratory science related degree.
• Must be registered with ASCP or equivalent.
• 1-2 years' experience in an accredited laboratory or in a hospital environment.
• Experience with Point of Care Testing.
• Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies/standards.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and staff
• Ability to develop and maintain excel spreadsheets for data reporting.
• Ability to detect color and color changes.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills

We have 25 Beds and 8 OR rooms and 3 ER Rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Orthopedic, Spine.

Position Responsibilities:

• Performs correlation studies, linearity checks, and quality control monitors to assure compliance with CLIA, TJC, and CAP.
• Analyzes, summarizes test results on each testing process and submits to Lab Manager for review and approval.
• Performs maintenance on machines systems to track education/training needs, maintenance of machines, ordering of reagents and supply inventory, etc.

• Recommends supplies/equipment to enhance program.
