Medical Lab Technician (MLT)

Full‑time role that ideally works 7 on, 7 off graveyard hours 2030‑0630. We may also consider rotating shifts, including weekends.

How You'll Contribute
- Perform clinical laboratory tests using manual techniques or automated equipment according to established laboratory procedures.
- Perform quality control testing.
- Maintain supplies needed for performance of tests.
- Prepare for testing procedures by adding reagents, preparing solutions, making dilutions, spinning blood in centrifuges, staining and mounting slides, and collecting specimens following standard laboratory procedures to ensure reliable and accurate test results.
- Complete testing procedures in a timely manner and input results into the computer system.
- Evaluate validity of results obtained and report results to appropriate clinical personnel. Report abnormal or critical results by informing the attending physician or other clinical personnel involved in the patient’s care.
- Regularly clean, perform routine maintenance on, and calibrate instruments and equipment to ensure reliability of test results and observe quality control standards. Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and inventory of supplies.
- Perform standard hematology procedures as well as more specialized and complex procedures, such as manual differentials on blood and body fluids, fluid cell counts, examination for crystals, and semen analysis.
- Inoculate microbiology specimens to the appropriate culture media; prepare, stain, and evaluate gram stain slides; and process specimens and media for transport.
- Participate in special procedures inherent in the lab section in which employed. Use professional judgment and assure a high level of quality and service.
- Assist other staff with the proper use of the LIS in processing patient orders, verifying results either manually or across the interface, retrieving and faxing patient records, etc.

What We're Looking For
- Education: Must have an associate degree in science. Provide transcripts or proof of completion.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire.
