## Description**JOB SUMMARY:*** The medical laboratory technician performs all complexities of testing in the clinical laboratory to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The medical lab technician will help with restocking of lab supplies and some lab billing as assigned.**PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:**1. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Values.2. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Standards of Behavior.3. Draws blood from patients (adults, children or infants) by venipuncture or capillary puncture as per procedure.4. After training and authorization performs blood collection for arterial blood.5. Performs clinical laboratory analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine and spinal fluid.6. Performs blood type, antibody screen and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.7. Analyzes test results, enters test results in computerized report formats and calls results according to laboratory policies for critical values.8. Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.9. Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedure.10. Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific laboratory instruments and documents data.11. Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement and maintenance performed on equipment.12. Participates in orientation of new personnel.13. Follows all safety and infection control policies as prescribed in hospital and laboratory policies/procedures.14. Performs the duties of a Phlebotomist or a Medical Laboratory Assistant as needed.15. Performs high, moderate and waived complexity testing.16. Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.17.
