Job summary

UMC Health System is seeking Medical Laboratory Technicians to test patient specimens, ensure the accuracy of tests and promptly communicate results to providers. Reports to the Supervisor, Medical Laboratory.

Daily duties include preparing and testing specimens, ensuring compliance with CAP, AABB, DNV and FDA guidelines, and performing equipment maintenance as needed. This role requires good English communication, ability to work with nursing staff, and the flexibility to stand for long periods

Qualifications

• AA/AS in an approved science field.
• Ability to identify patients and ensure adequate sampling.
• Proficient use of computer peripherals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and test patient specimens.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, AABB, DNV, and FDA guidelines as applicable.
• Ensure equipment is operational by performing maintenance and troubleshooting.
• All other duties assigned related to the medical laboratory.
