Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and evaluate complex analyses across chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic and bacteriological testing. You will ensure accurate communication of results and support lab operations.

The role requires certifications (BLS, MLT MT by AMT/ASCP) and associated degrees; duties include quality control, equipment maintenance and proficiency testing participation.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification within 30 days as required.
  • Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by AMT or ASCP within 1 year.
  • Medical Technologist (MT) certification by AMT or ASCP within 1 year.
  • Associates degrees in Biological Science and Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Education prerequisites align with clinical lab work requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and enter lab orders into the LIMS.
  • Perform a variety of blood collection procedures (venipuncture, finger/heel sticks, cultures).
  • Conduct tests using standard techniques and equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Maintain equipment, QA/QC procedures and inventory; ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (AMT) within 1 year - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (ASCP) within 1 year - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • Medical Technologist (MT) (AMT) within 1 year - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Medical Technologist (MT) (ASCP) within 1 year - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

Responsibilities

Performs all tasks necessary to register patients and enter lab orders into the lab computer system. Performs a variety of routine and complex blood drawing procedures including but not limited to venipuncture, finger and heel sticks, and blood cultures. Ensure quality by verifying patient identification and specimen labeling. Performs testing in the clinical laboratory for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease using standard techniques and equipment; perform related duties in laboratory to include storing and labeling specimens and using manual and automatic equipment to prepare specimens and perform analytical tests. Performs testing accurately, safely and within established time periods. Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on test equipment, clean equipment maintain laboratory supply inventory: performs routine maintenance on equipment. Perform various Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations and protocols. Evaluates acceptability as associated with department testing. Successfully participates in all accredidation and other proficiency testing and annual performance competencies. Performs drug and alcohol collection procedures. Manages the random drug and alcohol consortiums.

Compensation And Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $28.09per hour - $46.91per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
